Frequently asked questions
Camping at Tucker’s – FAQs
Camping at Tucker’s is meant to be easy, so we’ve pulled together
the questions we get asked most often below.
If you’re still unsure, pop a message in the chat box
or get in touch we’ll help if we can.
General camping
Q: Can I just turn up and camp?
A: No we ask all campers to book before hand , so we know who's coming and prepare!
Q: How do I check availability?
A: Use the availability link and choose your dates and the number of nights required. Green means yes. Red means someone beat you to it.
Q: What time is check-in?
A: Check-in is from 12:00 midday to 7:00pm. Civilised hours.
Q: What time is check-out?
A: Check-out is by 12:00 midday. We like a lie-in too, but not that much.If its a Sunday you can check out anytime ( If you're booked on an electric hook up, we just ask that you move off your pitch before midday, you can park in the car park and leave anytime on Sunday)
Q: Is the campsite next to the pub?
A: Yes. Dangerously close, some would say.
Q: Is Tucker’s a quiet countryside campsite?
A: Not especially. We’re next to a working pub and live music venue, which does rather rule out monastery levels of silence.
Q: Will I hear live music from the campsite?
A: Quite possibly, yes. Especially on the nights when there is live music.
Q: Why do you charge per person and not per pitch?
A: Because otherwise one pitch turns into a small village.
Charging per person keeps things fair, stops overcrowding, and makes sure there’s enough space, facilities, and peace for everyone.
Plus, it means a solo camper or couple isn’t paying the same as a group
Q: Do you have toilets and showers?
A: Yes. We’re rustic, not feral.
Q: Do you have Wi-Fi?
A: Yes. Connect to Fibreway, tick the box, and off you go. Signal is usually best near the pub and slightly less committed further out on the campsite.
Q: Is there phone signal?
A: Usually yes, although the countryside does like to keep people humble.
Q: Do you have clothes washing facilities?
A: No, we don’t have laundry facilities on site.
Q: Do you have a freezer on site?
A: No, we don’t have a freezer available for guest use.
Q: Do you sell ice?
A: No, but there’s a shop in the next village where you can pick up supplies.
Booking and groups
Q: How do I book more than one pitch?
A: Book your first pitch, then follow the prompt to add another. Groups usually find it easiest to book separately under the same group name, rather than descending into admin-related despair.
Q: Can we all book one pitch and camp together?
A: No. Each tent, campervan, or caravan needs its own pitch. We’ve found this works better for both space and sanity.
Q: Do you allow group bookings?
A: Yes. Groups of five or more adults will need to pay a refundable responsibility bond.
Q: What is a responsibility bond?
A: It’s a refundable deposit for adult groups of 5 or more. In short: behave like grown-ups and you’ll get it back.
Q: Why is there a two-night minimum on some weekends?
A: Because one-night gaps on busy weekends are awkward little creatures and rarely rebook.
Q: Why is there a minimum stay for electric pitches?
A: Because we only have a limited number of them, and they’re popular for obvious reasons.
Q: How do i amend my booking?
A: For any amendments or changes to your booking please email info@tuckersgraveinn.co.uk. Please note a £5 admin fee 'may' apply
Q: What is your cancellation policy?
A: The full cancellation policy is set out in the Terms & Conditions on the booking page. Thrilling reading.
Q: Can I cancel if it rains?
A: Afraid not. If we refunded for rain, this would be a very short-lived business.
Q: Do you allow visitors on site?
A: Usually No, anyone wanting to go onsite must first check with the campsite manager. You can meet friends in the pub, parlour etc.
Arrival and departure
Q: What happens if I arrive late?
A: If you think you’ll be later than 7:00pm, let us know. Late check-in may be possible through the pub, assuming nobody has vanished into the evening.
Q: Where do I check in when I arrive?
A: At the check-in shed. If that’s closed, pop into the pub and we’ll point you at the right human.
Q: Can I arrive earlier than check-in?
A: No. There won’t be anyone available to check you in before midday, however persuasive you are.
Q: Can I extend my stay once I’m on site?
A: Yes, if we have space. Ask at the pub and we’ll see what can be done.
Q: Can we arrive very late at night?
A: Possibly, but please let us know in advance. Turning up unannounced at midnight is rarely anyone’s favourite moment.
Pitches and vehicles
Q: What types of pitches do you have?
A: We have grass pitches and 10 electric hook-up pitches. These are suitable for tents, campervans, motorhomes and caravans.
If the weather is very wet, we may also have a hardstanding area available, this area cannot be booked, its first come first served.
Electric Hook-Up (EHU) Information
Our electric hook-ups are 6 amp (230v), which is suitable for general camping use such as lighting, phone charging, and low-power appliances.
Please note this is a lower-powered supply, so higher wattage items (such as heaters, kettles, or hairdryers) may trip the electric if used at the same time.
A simple rule:
If you run one higher-powered item, avoid using others at the same time.
Q: How big are your electric pitches?
A: The hardstanding area is about 9m x 6m, with an extra grass area of about 9m x 5m. Electric hook-up is 6 amp. Not Wembley, but perfectly respectable.
Q: Do electric pitches include water?
A: Yes. We felt that was only fair.
Q: What is the maximum vehicle length allowed?
A: Around 7 metres, because the narrow country lane and tight entrance turn are not built for optimism.
Q: Do you allow campervans and caravans?
A: Yes.
Q: Can I bring a gazebo or awning?
A: Yes, but please add it to your booking so we know what’s rolling in.
Q: Can I park next to my pitch?
A: Yes. One car per pitch
Q: Can I choose my pitch?
A: You’re welcome to request an area, but we can’t promise a specific pitch.
Q: Can we move pitches when we arrive?
A: Sometimes, if space allows.
Facilities
Q: Are the showers free?
A: Yes. No coins, no drama.
Q: Do you have a washing-up area?
A: Yes. Your frying pan need not suffer alone.
Q: Do you have drinking water on site?
A: Yes. There are fresh water taps around the campsite.
Q: Do you have a chemical waste disposal point?
A: Yes. Happily, there is a proper place for that.
Q: Do you recycle rubbish?
A: Yes. Recycling bins are provided on site, because even camping has standards.
Dogs and families
Q: Are dogs allowed on the campsite?
A: Yes. We are dog friendly and welcome well behaved dogs (on leads) in all areas including the pub, parlour cafe, skittle alley, cocktail bus and barn
Q: Are dogs allowed in the barn during live music?
A: Yes, but it can be loud, so please use your judgement. Your dog may not be as into the band as you are.
Q: Is the campsite suitable for families?
A: Yes. Families are very welcome.
Q: Are children allowed in the barn?
A: Yes, with an adult.
Q: Is the campsite suitable for solo campers?
A: Absolutely. No entourage required.
Fires, BBQs and safety
Q: Are campfires allowed?
A: Yes, as long as they’re raised off the ground in a firepit. We do prefer the grass un-scorched.
Q: Do you hire firepits?
A: Yes.
Q: Do you sell firewood?
A: Yes.
Q: Are disposable BBQs allowed?
A: Yes, but they must be raised off the ground and used sensibly. “I thought it’d be fine” is not a safety policy.
Q: Are generators allowed?
A: No, unless agreed in advance. The rest of the campsite thanks you.
Q: Are fireworks allowed?
A: No. We like excitement, just not that sort.
Q: Are drones allowed?
A: Not without permission. Not everyone wants to star in your aerial masterpiece.
Q: Why do you sometimes have security on site?
A: On busy weekends, security may be present simply to help keep things calm and stop the night becoming more memorable than necessary.
Pub, music and food
Q: Do you serve food?
A: Yes. Food is usually served Friday and Saturday evenings from 6:00pm to 9:00pm, and breakfast is usually served Saturday and Sunday mornings from 8:15am to 11:30am. Civilisation does continue here.
Q: Can campers attend the live music?
A: Yes. Campers are very welcome to enjoy the live music and events.
Saturday Night live bands are always in the barn and Sunday sessions are in the Parlour Cafe or garden
Q: Do I have to pay to see the live bands?
A: Most music nights are free entry, except New Year’s Eve.
Q: What time does live music finish?
A: Most live music finishes around 10:50pm. Near enough to sensible.
Q: What kind of music do your bands play?
A: Mostly lively cover bands playing rock, indie, Britpop, pop, soul, funk, disco, ska, singalong classics, and the sort of songs that seem better with a drink in hand.
Q: Do you serve breakfast?
A: Yes — Saturday and Sunday mornings from 8:15am to 11:30am, for those rebuilding gently.
Q: Can campers eat at the pub?
A: Yes. Campers are very welcome to eat and drink at the pub. It saves washing up too.
Q: Can campers bring their own food onto the campsite?
A: Yes, that’s absolutely fine. Just don’t bring it into the pub gardens or licensed areas, unless you’re keen on being told off politely.
Site rules
Q: When is quiet time?
A: Quiet time starts at 12:00 midnight. By then, most stories have improved enough already.
Q: Can we play music on our pitch?
A: Yes, but please keep it at a level that doesn’t disturb other campers. Not everyone wants your playlist forced upon them.
Q: Can we have a party on our pitch?
A: No. Tucker’s is relaxed and friendly, but it is not a free-for-all.
Q: Are visitors allowed on site?
A: Only if agreed in advance. Surprise extras tend to complicate things.
Q: Why do you use Tucker’s festival cups?
A: To help prevent broken glass around the campsite and event areas. Bare feet remain strangely unenthusiastic about shards.
Local area
Q: Are there footpaths nearby?
A: Yes. There are walking routes straight from the campsite, so you can head off nobly and return muddy.
Q: How far is Tucker’s from Bath?
A: Around a 25-minute drive, traffic and tractors permitting.
Q: Are there shops nearby?
A: Yes. Local shops and supermarkets are a short drive away, should you forget something important.
Q: Is there public transport nearby?
A: There are local bus routes in the next village, although “frequent” would be overselling it.
Q: Are taxis available locally?
A: Yes, but it is always best to book ahead unless you enjoy uncertainty.
